Though there are many conveniences of today, many of us are constantly on the go, rundown, unhealthy, and close to burn out or there already. I was no different and became unhealthy and burnt out. To be my best self, having energy and vitality, I needed to make balancing myself a daily habit, especially in resting my body.
Though not to sound repetitive, it is during our sleep or rest time, when done properly, that our mind, body, and soul rejuvenates and renews so that we can be at our best self for the NEW day ahead. To help me change and put It all in perspective, I think of Creation, and the Creation of each NEW day. In short, I see it being in 3 steps (not necessarily in this order):
- Taking Action
- Learning/Growing/Evolving
- Resting
As Creation is done by being balanced in all 3, so shall we. I often was taking action and learning/growing/evolving, rarely taking the time to rest.
How about you? Are you stuck over doing it in one (or two) area(s) or not enough in another? If your area is Rest like mine was, where is your favorite place to rest.
As well as getting a proper nights sleep, I find rest in the day through daily meditation, https://revshejohnson.com/2019/05/09/meditation/ , and going to the ocean! When I am unable to be there physically I do so by visualization. With much research to support, did you know that the body will react to what your thoughts are or what you tell it? The mind has a difficult time distinguishing between reality and imagination, and the body reacts the same whether real or imagined.
Truly amazing how powerful we are, especially our minds. As such, this is why I will often, even if just a few minutes, visualize being at the ocean, walking along the cascading shoreline, feeling the warmth of the healing sun and sand between each toe and on every inch of the soles of my feet, as the wondrous salt water washes away all my cares. . .
Sometimes seeing a picture of the ocean does the same and/or listening to ocean waves. If you are on the go, and not yet able to get to your favorite resting place, when not driving and/or right before you fall asleep, take a few moments each day, close your eyes, put your hand over your heart, take a deep breath or two, visualize yourself there.
It does your mind, body, and soul a world of good . . .
My poem – My Love of the Deep Ocean Blue
The sound of the waves, I hear you call me,
The warmth and healing of the sun,
To be forever in your presence,
Peace, safety and rest I find when I am at your side,
The sound of the waves, I hear you call me,
I dream of the day I will return.
